APLA Gains its carekeepers


Founded on April 22, 2015, the APLA - Potengiense Academy of Letters and Arts, whose purpose is to rescue, preservation and dissemination of regional culture. Apla brings in "DNA" comprehensive training in order to welcome scholars active in all cultural quadrants namely: general Literature, poetry, theater, music, painting etc ... The intrinsically linked culture between generations over the years since the late eighteenth century when the great drought forced many families to go down the experienced backcountry in search of a place where they could survive through subsistence agriculture. In these parts, the banks of the Rio Potengi, which proliferated potato crops, beans, corn and cassava, those country people were pioneers of trainers families now border the blessed river, where several cities were created, giving rise to a rich and diverse culture that goes from the legends, (trancoso stories) stories, mamulengo (Round John) Boi of kings, among many others, all set to music by the rhythm of the Northeast, our well-known, forró. The role of caretakers of APLA is to preserve this rich immaterial heritage.
